Advanced manufacturing in the TVA region also supports a variety of companies in composites, electronics, plastics, and additive manufacturing.
Aerospace and Defense
The Boeing Company, Airbus Group, Raytheon Company, Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems, Embraer, and Bell Helicopter are a handful of names among the more than 2,400 aerospace and defense firms that call the TVA region home.

Bayer Consumer Products, Hershey Foods, Colgate-Palmolive, J.M Smucker Company, General Mills, Mars, and Unilever are among the consumer products companies that thrive in the TVA region.
Industrial Products
The seven-state TVA region has a rich history in manufacturing a wide range of industrial products including chemicals, wood products, metals, and more. There are more than 132,000 individuals employed in manufacturing within the Tennessee Valley with a wide range of skill sets from machining and welding to industrial maintenance and mechatronics. The Valley is home to many renowned companies in this sector: Louisiana Pacific, International Paper, Du Pont, Alcoa Inc., Nucor Steel, Caterpillar, Whirlpool, and General Electric Appliance.
Transportation-Related Manufacturing
The region is the second-largest automobile manufacturing region in the country, with approximately 90,000 automotive industry jobs. It’s also home to Mazda-Toyota’s $1.6 billion manufacturing plant in Huntsville, AL that will provide jobs for 4,000 people by 2021. Nissan, Volkswagen, Toyota, GM, Bridgestone, Polaris, and Yokohama have also planted their roots in the Valley.
