Specialized Manufacturing Tennessee Valley

Tile manufacturing has become an integral part of advanced manufacturing in the Tennessee Valley. The TVA region’s large mines of ball clay – a primary component of ceramic tile – have attracted companies from Italy, China, South America, and Spain, that together, have invested more than $800 million.

Composites is a niche industry that is gaining traction as part of Tennessee Valley’s advanced manufacturing as well. Knoxville, TN, and Huntsville, AL, are the Valley’s two locations that manufacture composite, which is made from raw materials and takes the shape of such things as the fin of a car, a lighter, or the door of a helicopter.
