Plans for the project include investing $13.8 million and creating 44 new jobs to expand operations and construct a new research and development laboratory. Puritan Medical Products, North America’s largest manufacturer of COVID-19 testing swabs, announced plans to establish operations in Orlinda, Tennessee. Plans for the manufacturing and distribution operations include creating 625 new jobs and investing $220 million to support production of up to 200 million swabs per month. General Motors and LG Energy Solution announced plans to locate Ultium Cells, LLC, the companies’ new joint-venture battery cell manufacturing plant in Spring Hill, Tennessee. Ultium Cells will manufacture batteries for GM’s new Electric Vehicle platform. Plans for the project include creating 1,300 new jobs and investing $2.3 billion in the new state-of-the-art facility. Economic development partners include Columbia Power and Water Systems, Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, Maury Alliance, Middle Tennessee Industrial Development Authority, and Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Alphatec Spine, a provider of innovative solutions dedicated to revolutionizing the approach to spine surgery, announced today the intention to lease a 75,000 square foot facility in Memphis, Tennessee, which will house ATEC’s primary distribution operations.
