Kyoto Fusioneering, a premier fusion technology and integrated systems developer, announced plans to establish operations in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Plans for this project include creating 51 new jobs and investing $47 million in the company’s U.S. headquarters operations in Anderson County. Economic development partners include Oak Ridge Electric Department, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, U.S. Department of Energy, City of Oak Ridge, Anderson County, East Tennessee Economic Development Agency, the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development and TVA. TRISO-X, a nuclear fuel company, announced plans to expand operations in Roane County, Tennessee. The companyplans to create 1,140 new jobs and invest hundreds of millions of dollars in the new fuel facility, research and development center. Master Machine, LLC, a system design and manufacturer of products primarily for nuclear-focused industries, announced plans to expand operations in Hamilton County. Plans for the project include creating 44 new jobs and investing $12 million in the company’s Chattanooga operations. Economic development partners include EPB, Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce, Hamilton County, the city of Chattanooga, and the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development. The Tennessee Valley Authority Board of Directors, on Thursday, approved $150 million in additional advanced nuclear funding to support continued design work and TVA’s development of potential small modular reactors (SMRs) at its Clinch River site near Oak Ridge, Tenn. The Board, which approved an initial $200 million at its February 2022 board meeting, has now approved $350 million in total for the project. At nearly 60% carbon-free, this investment to build clean generation accelerates TVA’s transition to clean energy to power the region’s growing population and economy.
